Mountain Hardwear Hooded Compressor PL Jacket
Made for alpinists: highly compressible, excellent warmth-to-weight ratio. MicroClimate Zoning construction insulates your core with thicker insulation. Lightly insulated panels at the sides aid ventilation and keep you warm without overheating.
PrimaLoft® is a unique, patented micro fiber insulator which resembles the physical and thermal properties of down. At equal weights and densities, PrimaLoft® is as warm as down and warmer than other synthetics. In wet conditions, PrimaLoft® remains lighter and is unsurpassed in its ability to keep you drier and warmer than down and other synthetics.
Warmth where you want it, ventilation where you need it.
MicroClimate Zoning utilizes a combination of fabrics in a single garment to create gear that is more comfortable and functional in a wide variety of conditions. Because the body generates heat at different rates on different parts of the body, the Mountain Hardwear R&D department biomapped the human torso and developed an innovative approach to making garments. Instead of using one fabric or lining in the whole garment, MicroClimate Zoning places specific materials only where the user needs them – more warmth in cold-sensitive areas, less bulk or material where the body puts out more heat.
Our Verdict
Mountain Hardware's version of the Primaloft hooded jacket has micro fleece lined handwarmer pockets and a shockcord adjustable hood that keeps it in place. All the usual features like single handed hem adjustment and simply finished elasticated cuffs.
The chest pocket is small but would take credit cards or lift pass.
