| Light My Fire Swedish Fire Steel |
 |
Originally developed for the Swedish Department of Defence, Swedish FireSteel is a flash of genius. Its 3,000C spark makes fire building easy in any weather, at any altitude. Used by a number of armies around the world, Swedish FireSteels dependability has already made it a favorite of survival experts, hunters, fishermen and campers. It has also found its way into cabins and backyards as a fool-proof way to light stoves and gas-barbecues.
Our Verdict
For lighting stoves instead of carrying matches we think the Mini Firesteel is a winner - at 12g its lighter than matches anyway and will produce a spark in any weather.
The Scout and Army versions provide longer life, and being bigger, are easier to handle.
The Scout 2.0 & Army 2.0 feature an ergonomic grip and whistle incorporated into the striker.
