| LEKI Aergon Thermolite XL Trekking Poles with Speed-Lock (pair) |
 |
From the lightest range that LEKI produce, high quality aluminium shafts ensure a long life. For an ultralight backpacker the combined weight is down to a manageable 520g. This is less than the weight of some tent pole sets so you can combine these poles with an ultralite shelter and carry them with very little weight penalty. These poles feature the easy to use Leki Speedlock system, giving them a very strong locking force along with super fast adjustment.
LEKI guarantee the aluminium shafts for life against breakage.

One pole or two?
Generally speaking, if you're traveling easy terrain with no load, one pole may be sufficient. If, however, you're traveling varied terrain or carrying a load, you'll want the support and stability that two poles will provide you.
Our Verdict
LEKI is the market leader for walking poles so the quality of these poles is guaranteed. In my experience, during a long day on uneven ground the benefits of walking poles seem obvious.
With the Thermolite XL the foam grip extends down the shaft - this is useful when travelling up steep terrain, enabling the user to grip the shafts lower down.
We like the new 'Speed-Lock', having experienced poles that cannot be opened or closed the Speed-lock eliminates this potential problem, there is a weight penalty though - making these slightly heavier than standard poles.
