Granite Gear Habanero 28 Litre Multi-Activity Pack
A Granite Gear staff favorite. The Habanero 28 gives you enough room for daylong excursions or ultralight overnights. An assortment of stash pockets and tie in points lets you haul all the gear you need for short and quick adventures.
The weight is supported by a single stay internal frame and the vented padded harness also allows you to cruise in comfort. If you get caught in inclement weather you can deploy the built in rainfly, located at the bottom of the pack.
Our Verdict
A tough pack, well made, has a huge number of features to get to grips with. Straight out of the packaging we love the styling and picked up straight away on the long very supportive hipbelt, so often on packs of this category the hipbelt is either simply webbing or have every short wings. The Habanero will therefore support the weight on the hips much better than these other packs.
Gear carrying is sorted as well, there are twin loops with corresponding elasticated loops that will allow trekking poles, ice axes and the like to be securely carried. A hypalon daisy chain gives additional 'tie it on' capability.
The flat pocket on the front of the pack is ideal map/document size. Counting the hip pockets, the side pockets and the pocket that contains the rain cover the total pockets and compartments comes to 10, including one thats padded and access fron the top - intended for goggles/glasses. So there's no reason not to be organised and a real danger of not being able to find what you want!!
The new harness from Granite Gear is really interesting - it looks an behaves like a close fitting padded back panel - but actually its curved and sits quite well off the back - in addition the stippled nature of the padding makes it feel 'airy'. We love it - Granite Gear seem to have achieved a close fitting pack which vents very well - Nirvana!
