Our Verdict
A welcome return of Goretex fabrics to our range of shell garments - in this case its the lightest Goretex available, Paclite. The Currant Mountain is designed to be very light but doesn't skip on features, the underarm pitzips are a rare but useful feature which allows the wearer to ventilate the jacket between showers. If you find yourself constantly taking your jacket on and off between rain showers then the ability to vent properly could avoid this hassle.
The pockets are protected by highly water resistant zips, there are two at handwarmer level and one chest pocket on the left breast. All the pockets use a lightweight mesh, which doesn't look like it'll take much abuse, but on the other hand keeps the overall weight of the jacket down.
I'd buy this for the features, such as the pit zips and excellent hood which can be fastened close to the head so that it moves with the wearer.
