Our Verdict

The Jam is a classic in the GoLite range, in common with all the GoLite Pack range the Jam now incorporates an element of recycled nylon fabric. The other major changes are a tweak to the hipbelt and an enlarged front pocket.

It looks like GoLite have listened to their customers with the front pocket, in previous models it was hard to access when the main compartment was full, so a definite improvement. However the pack is heavier again than its predecessor - some purists will still want the old one!

It remains a lightweight pack for its 50 Litre capacity and it still appeals when you only have around 20lbs to carry.

	Dyneema® The fabric of choice for our standard-setting UltraLite Series packs, our exclusive Dyneema® Gridstop weave combines 100% nylon base yarn with Dyneema fibers to deliver the strongest, lightest, performance pack fabric ever produced. Dyneema fibers have a strength-to-weight ratio that is 15 times better than high tensile steel, making this fabric incredibly difficult to tear.
	Our newly developed Tier 1 recycled polyester and nylon materials test to the same high standards as their conventional, non-recycled alternatives.  We use them because of the massive reductions in energy use and resource consumption required to produce them vs. the virgin, petroleum-based alternatives.  More information can be found under ‘Performance Technology’ within ‘The Meaning of Lite’ section of the GoLite website.
	The comPACKtor™ system makes your pack far more versatile by enabling you to reduce your pack's volume through the use of two fixed compression anchor clips and adjustable side compression straps. With the comPACKtor™ system engaged, your pack is instantly transformed from a lightweight multi-day carrying system into a day-tripper or peak-bagger with smaller profile and volume.
