The Freeloader Pico is a compact yet powerful solar charging device that can power virtually any portable device, such as mobile phones, iPods, MP3 players and Sat Navs.
Freeloader Pico stores energy gained from the solar panel or via your a computer's USB and can then deliver power to your device within 30 minutes.
Our Verdict
We like the size, weight and price of the Pico!
Last time I hiked for a fortnight I took my iPhone, dutifully turning it off when not in use, most of the time there wasn't a signal but on the occasions when I was able to phone home it was really worth it.
I managed to use the phone sparingly and eek out the single charge for the full two weeks but now I've discovered the Pico charger I will always carry one just in case I forget to turn the bugger off (which I have done in the past).
MINI REVIEW:
You charge the PICO first time from a pc - I did this and it delivered half a charge to my iPhone - quite impressed. I used it for a week in Italy - it was hot and sunny. Charging for 8-10 hours it delivered about a 25% charge to the iPhone - this is good enough for my treks when I only use it sparingly.
