Scout Tarp Extreme- travel light; fast; comfortably!
A contradiction of terms: compact and lightweight makes Scout a huge shelter; a simple design but long on versatility. A clever tensioning cord in a perimeter channel allows easy setups, and an integrated stuff sack and guyline pocket make packing up a breeze!.
Our Verdict
Huge tarp with a very low weight for its size, and as with all Exped gear, very well made. The best feature is that it can be setup as a tarp with one end closed to the elements, useful for use in the UK.
Features
- Quick setup: Unique channel along the outer seam hides an adjustable shock cord. Once set, tension remains constant and the tarp stays taught.
- Numerous guylines and loops for versatile setup or suspension.
- Scout can be pitched as simple A-Frame shelter over a stretched cord.
- Use almost anything to support Scout: paddles, trekking poles, skis, branches, snowshoes, or even a pack. Integrated storage sack doubles as an anchor for solid, secure setups.
- The compact integrated packsack doubles as anchor sack for supports such as trekking pole, paddle, branch etc.
- Central attachment loop allows Scout to be suspended from a branch or other overhang.
- Lap-felled seams sew thread through 4 layers of interleaved fabric. Thread is cotton wrapped polyester for strength and durability, and which expands when wet to close holes against water.
