There is no better insulator than down. Unparalleled in its ability to trap air, incredibly light and highly compressible, down is unbeatable but for one drawback – it must be kept dry. A waterproof down sleeping bag is therefore essential for alpinism.
We use the highest grade of Polish goose down commercially and consistently available. Our sleeping-bag shells are made from eVent fabric – the most breathable and waterproof fabric we know. Inside the bag, the baffles containing the down are welded to the inner face of the shell, avoiding all stitched seams. For the zip – like stitching, a potential area of water ingress – we use the highly water-resistant Riri Aquazip to ensure that the bag is as waterproof as humanly possible.
Crux Torpedo sleeping bags are available in a choice of three fill weights:
- Torpedo 500 - Classic bag for 3-season/alpine mountaineering (500 g down fill)
- Torpedo 700 - Four-season alpine bag, up to 6000 m altitude (700 g down fill)
- Torpedo 900 - Versatile mountaineering bag for those climbing 6000-8000 m (900 g down fill)
